It’s never too early to enjoy a Mimosa. One-part orange juice and two two-parts Champagne, served on a slim flute glass, is all you need to start the evening with the right foot. But where did the Mimosa come to be? Legend says it went by the name ‘Buck’s Fizz’ in 1921 in London; it then became popular at the Ritz in Paris.
Interestingly, finding Champagne has never been a problem, but orange juice was somewhat of a rarity in the early 20th century. It wasn’t until WWII that American soldiers popularized OJ in Europe.
Finally, we can thank Sir Alfred Hitchcock for bringing the drink into vogue in America. The Mimosa have been a staple brunch cocktail since then; it’s a timeless classic.
